‘Careers in Your Ears’ is a fantastic careers Podcast for PhD Students and Research Staff made my the specialist researcher careers team at King’s College London. In 2025 I had the honour of being a guest for the show; in my episode (below) we discuss how to tell your story in a way that employers beyond academia will understand what you bring, the challenge of not knowing all the job titles, how to curate your LinkedIn experience to work for you, and a fun metaphor involving an avocado!
Having been a fan of Sarah McClusky’s Research Adjacent podcast for a while, it was great to be featured in an episode in January 2025. In it, I talk to Sarah about why career advice from the perspective of ‘this worked for me, it’ll work for you’ can be problematic, as well as managing disabilities and health conditions at work, and why we need a new vocabulary to describe post-academic career options.
